Saying no to plastic is protecting those we love
On Sunday, the 15th of April, 2018, Greenpeace Cameroon volunteers visited the inhabitants of Obili-Yaounde to sensitise them about the negative effects of plastics on our environment and health.
The Environmental Ambassadors had a face-to-face discussion with the population and carried the message "Saying no to plastic is protecting ourselves and those we love". They called on the population to take the dangers of using plastic waste seriously as it can cause diseases like cancer and other rare diseases.
They also recommended not putting hot or very cold food in plastic because it causes the plastic container or bag to release toxins that are dangerous.
They also recommended that the inhabitants properly dispose of their plastic waste and not litter the environment because plastics are the number one cause of floods in Yaounde today.
This team of environmentalists promised to revisit for a cleanup. Here is a picture of the area to be cleaned.
