Milestones, Solar Bags, and Back-to-School: My Recent Weeks as a Nonprofit Social Media Manager

September 13, 2025

Hi everyone, hope you are doing well.

My name is Ngumabi, I am a social media manager for nonprofits. Welcome to my blog.

After sharing my portfolio I will be sharing updates of my work as a social media manager for the nonprofits I work for. To work with me or collaborate send me an email kaolosphere@gmail.com

The past few weeks have been packed with small wins and meaningful projects that remind me why I do this work.

Milestones, Solar Bags, and Back-to-School: My Recent Weeks as a Nonprofit Social Media Manager

👉 One exciting milestone: YCD’s LinkedIn page just hit 500 followers. For a youth-led nonprofit from Cameroon, this is huge. It means our message is reaching more people, and that slowly but surely, our digital presence is growing.

👉 We also shared something I’m very proud of: our new solar bag project. These bags are designed for students who don’t have electricity at home and can’t study after sunset. This is one of those moments where communication isn’t just about awareness — it’s about giving visibility to a solution that directly changes lives.

👉 With schools reopening, I created back-to-school posts across our channels. On YCD’s pages, the focus was on encouraging young people to build habits for success. In the WhatsApp group I co-manage for Greenpeace supporters, I leaned into environmental habits for kids: from reducing waste to eco-friendly routines they can carry into the new school year.

👉 On the backend, I also prepped a batch of Canva quote posts for YCD (they’ll roll out soon), and I’m happy to say our website is live again — which means I’ll be crafting fresh blog posts there too.

Reflecting on these updates, I’m reminded that being a social media manager for nonprofits isn’t just about content calendars and engagement rates. It’s about storytelling that inspires action, builds communities, and shines light on solutions that matter.
